Meet The Artists

How my children sensed that I would fall in love with painting remains something of a mystery, but their gift of a painting holiday in Dittisham with Paul Riley for my 60th birthday proved to be a turning point. With a mixture of curiosity and trepidation, I set off, unsure of what lay ahead but willing to try something entirely new.

At that time, I knew very little about the practicalities of painting—paints, brushes, papers all felt unfamiliar, and the language of art seemed vast and confusing. Yet, very quickly, a new way of seeing began to emerge. Concepts such as tone, aerial perspective, and colour opened up an entirely different understanding of the world around me,

transforming not just how I painted, but how I observed.

What began as a tentative first step has since grown into an enduring passion. I continue to explore and develop my work, inspired by the landscapes around me and driven by the excitement of learning—something that first began on that memorable journey to Dittisham.

Gill Wilson

I am an artist based in Devon, having relocated from Buckinghamshire five years ago. I have been painting on and off for more than fifteen years, developing a practice rooted in colour, atmosphere, and a strong sense of place. The expansive skies and distinctive light of Devon have had a significant influence on my work, encouraging a more expressive and dynamic approach to colour and composition.

I work in a variety of mediums, with a particular focus on acrylic for its versatility and watercolour for its technical demands and immediacy. Moving between these mediums enables me to continually challenge myself and evolve my practice.

My work has been sold internationally, including in the USA and Canada, as well as within the UK. I am also committed to supporting and contributing to the wider arts community and served as Chairman of the Budleigh Salterton Art Club from 2023 to 2025, helping to foster engagement and opportunities for local artist

Teresa Creton

I began painting following my retirement from a long career in nursing, and over the past 18 years it has become a central part of my life. After exploring a variety of mediums, I now work primarily in acrylics and oils, continually experimenting with new techniques and approaches.

My style has evolved towards an impressionistic and abstract response to the landscape, with seascapes and rural scenes as my main inspiration.

Colour and texture play a vital role in my work, bringing energy and movement to each piece. My paintings have been collected both locally and nationally, and are held in private collections in France, the USA, and New Zealand. I regularly exhibit in Devon, including at Devon Open Studios at Sea View Barn, Otterton, and at the Artisan Gallery in Exmouth.

Ben Honey

I am a Devon-based artist working primarily in acrylics. For many years, my focus was on representative art—portraiture, still life, and other traditional subjects.

About 15 years ago, I began experimenting with new forms of expression, and the works you see on this website are the result of that journey.

Over time, my style has evolved into something distinct and unique. Breaking away from traditional conventions has given me the freedom to continually explore and refine my artistic voice.

My paintings can be found in homes from Shanghai to Toronto, Munich to Egypt. I hope you enjoy discovering these works as much as I enjoy creating them.
